July 4, 2014

Tell us a little about yourself, age, school, siblings etc..

My name is Tricia Wiles. I am 20 years old and I am know by my friends and family as quirky, adventurous and independent. I am twenty years olds and currently study Theatre Performance at Virginia Commonwealth University. I have one older brother and one older sister who are some of my best friends in my life and I live my life to honor God.

How did you get started in acting, how old were you?

I have been acting since I was 7, whether it was in church or school productions, I was always involved. I can remember one of my first roles was a Red Candy-Cane from the Candy Cane Forest in my school’s Christmas musical. I have loved performing ever since.

How long have you been with Va Rep??

This is my first year with Va Rep! I have been a counselor at two of Va Rep’s theatre camps this summer as well.

What is your all time favorite role that you have played?

My all time favorite role that I have played is Ariel Moore from Footloose. It was an amazing experience to perform in a musical with character development but also amazing songs and dances. And who doesn’t love wearing red cowboy boots on stage every night?

What role would you love to play?

In a play I would love to play Elizabeth Bennet from Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. And in a musical I would love to play Sara Crewe from A Little Princess. Both roles have wonderful stories of independence and strength.

Do you have a favorite play that you have seen or want to see?

My favorite play that I have seen recently is A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Richmond Shakespeare. I loved it because it was full of chaos, humor and fantastic acting. There were also amazing technical aspects to the show that were enhanced due to theatre being outdoors.

What are your long term goals?

My long terms goal are to make my living performing. I would love to experience New York City and Los Angeles for both of their amazing aspects. I want to go for my goals of performing in both cities, on stage, in film and on television.  On the same note, I look forward to starting a family one day.

What do you like to do when you are not acting?

I love to sing and create music with my friends and family. My entire family is extremely musical and we all are proficient in different instruments. This makes creating music together a regular thing.

Do you have a favorite movie, book, food?

One of my favorite movies is Lego Movie! It is a wild ride of fun.

One of my favorite books is Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card. His character development in his stories create a wonderful world to dive into.

One of my favorite foods is fresh dill potatoes. I love the zesty-ness they have when my mother makes them in the summer.

Any suggestions / advice for the readers and their children that you can share?

Always look toward the future for enriching experiences. Have the confidence to be brave and ask for opportunities that you can grow and learn from. Some of my best jobs and leadership roles have come from simply asking. We all need help getting through life. It shows strength to ask for help when we know cannot succeed on our own.
