Henrico 4-H has announced two great opportunities for local youth and teens:
Applications Now Open: Virginia 4-H Program in the Dominican Republic
Virginia 4-H teens (grades 9-12) are invited to apply for the Virginia 4-H Program in the Dominican Republic. In 2026, two different groups of Virginia 4-H teens will travel to the Dominican Republic for one week to engage in cultural exchange and help lead a 4-H Day Camp for Dominican youth. This opportunity is especially well-suited for 4-H Camp Counselors and teens interested in service, leadership, and global learning.

Program cost: $2,600 (includes a $1,000 deposit due March 16 if accepted)
A recommendation from the teen's Extension Agent or Program Assistant is required as part of the application process. Selected participants will be notified in early March.
Hands-on Learning with Henrico 4-H!
Join the HomeS.T.E.A.D. 4-H Club on January 13 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Twin Hickory Area Library (5000 Twin Hickory Drive, Glen Allen, VA 23060). This workshop will feature Virginia's Department of Wildlife Resources' "Backyard Bass" activity. DWR volunteers will teach youth how to cast a net, identify parts of a fishing rod, learn Virginia fishing requirements, and explore fish species native to Virginia.

Families are also invited to join Henrico 4-H on their next field trip on January 26:

Time: 1:00-3:00 p.m.
Students will dive into hands-on activities exploring soils and compost, plus enjoy winter seed starting with native wildflowers.
