City of Richmond’s Spring & Summer 2026 Program Guide is Here!

The City of Richmond’s Department of Parks, Recreation, and Community Facilities (PRCF) has officially released its Spring/Summer Programs Guide, and it is packed with affordable, accessible, and exciting activities for youth ages 3–18. If you haven't had the opportunity to check it out yet, especially with registration beginning tomorrow, we've reviewed the entire guide, so you won't have to!


Youth Athletics


From the field to the court, Richmond’s youth sports programs focus on fundamentals, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

  • Soccer (Ages 5–14): Kick off the season from March 13 to May 16 ($25 residents / $45 non-residents).
  • Tee Ball (Ages 6 & under): Perfect for the littlest sluggers, running April 24 to May 29 ($25 residents / $45 non-residents).
  • Girls Softball (Ages 8–12): Catch the action from April 23 to May 28 ($25 residents / $45 non-residents).
  • Flag Football (Ages 6–14): Runs March 30 to May 14 ($25 residents / $45 non-residents).
  • RVA Skate Club (Ages 8–14): Meet at Broad Rock Community Center for free skating fun from March 16 to May 21
  • Tennis Lessons (Ages 4–17): Various age-specific sessions are available at Byrd and Battery Parks for $25 (residents).
  • Richmond Riptides Swim Team (Ages 5–18): A competitive year-round swim team for those who can swim 25 yards.

Make a Splash with Aquatics


Beat the heat with indoor and outdoor water activities:

  • Learn to Swim: Classes are available for Preschool (ages 3–4) and Youth (ages 5–17) for $25 (residents).
  • Lifeguard Certification (Ages 15+): Get certified for a summer job! This course costs $175 for residents.
  • Artistic Swim Lessons (Ages 13+): Explore synchronized swimming for free at Swansboro Pool.

Summer Camps for Every Interest


Summer camps run primarily from June 8 to August 14, providing safe and supportive environments.

  • Summer Blast (Ages 6–12): The classic day camp experience with athletics, arts, and field trips. USDA meals are included ($475 resident full session).
  • Specialty Arts Camps at Pine Camp (Ages 7–15): Includes the Summer Spotlight (theater/art/dance), Enchanted Forest Adventure (mythical role-playing), and Nature Adventure Film Camp.
  • Hickory Hill Camps (Ages 6–16): Choose between Creative Expression for younger kids or Teens in Motion for ages 13–16, focusing on musical theater and design.
  • CarMax Basketball Camp (Ages 8–11): A free four-day intensive camp in early July.

Creative Arts & Dance


  • Dance Discovery (Ages 8–16): Explore Hip-Hop, Tap, and afro-fusion at Hickory Hill ($20 residents).
  • Visual Arts: Check out Crafty Corner (Ages 8–16) for DIY projects like sticker design, or Intro to Digital Art (Ages 8-15) to learn animation and digital painting.
  • Motivate Excel Lead (Ages 8–18): A free program at Broad Rock focusing on artist education and brand building.

Adaptive Recreation


PRCF is committed to inclusion. Therapeutic Recreation offers programs like Roll and Tumble (Ages 3-5), a free adaptive gymnastics program for children with disabilitiesFor more modifications, contact the Therapeutic Recreation office at 804-646-6446.

  • How to Register: Sign up online at go.rva.gov/rvaparksreg.
  • Fees & Discounts: Richmond PRCF promises to keep activities affordable and will reduce fees based on a family's ability to pay. Non-residents pay an additional fee per activity.
  • Payment Note: PRCF does not accept cash. Payments must be made via money order, cashier’s check, personal check, or credit card.
