If you’re raising a child with food allergies, asthma, eczema, or any allergic condition, you already know how much extra planning, advocating, and emotional energy goes into keeping them safe.

On May 15, 2026, Feeding Allergy Awareness RVA is returning for its second year. Feeding Allergy Awareness RVA is a one‑day conference created to bring families, clinicians, and community organizations together during Food Allergy Awareness Week. The goal is simple: make life safer, easier, and more supported for families living with allergic diseases.

Why This Event Exists

Richmond ranks as the 8th worst city in the U.S. for asthma and allergies, and across the country, food allergies impact 1 in 10 adults and 1 in 13 children. Families here face daily challenges, and this event is all about offering them resources, support, and a stronger sense of community.

The conference is led by Sherrina Gibson, a mom who understands this world firsthand. Her daughter lives with food allergies and asthma, and that experience fuels her work every single day.
Sherrina is also the founder and CEO of Carter Consulting, LLC, where she helps nonprofits and community organizations use data to tell their story and improve health outcomes. She’s contributed to research, partnered with healthcare teams, and continues to advocate for families across Virginia. She also coordinates the Richmond Food Allergy Support Group, a space where parents can learn, vent, and feel less alone.
