Ignite Speech Launches “Playful Pathways” – A Play-Based Development Program for Young Children in Richmond, VA
Richmond, VA – May 30, 2025 — Ignite Speech is to announce the launch of Playful Pathways, a new play-based developmental class designed for children 15 months to 5 years. This innovative program combines the expertise of speech-language pathologists (SLPs), occupational therapists (OTs), and physical therapists (PTs) to support children’s growth through hands-on learning experiences.
Playful Pathways offers a unique, semi-structured environment where children engage in purposeful play to enhance their speech, language, cognitive, sensory, fine motor, and gross motor skills. Each 45-minute session features themed activities that encourage exploration, creativity, and social interaction, all guided by a team of pediatric specialists.
“We believe that children learn best through play,” said Meghan Jackson, founder of Ignite Speech. “Playful Pathways is designed to provide a nurturing space where children of all abilities can develop essential skills while having fun.”
Program Highlights
● Age Groups: Classes are divided into two age groups: 15 months–3 years and 3–5 years, with flexibility based on individual developmental needs.
● Therapeutic Integration: Activities are crafted by SLPs, OTs, and PTs to target key
developmental areas:
○ Speech & Language: Enhancing communication through modeling, imitation, and interactive storytelling.
○ Occupational Therapy: Developing fine motor skills and sensory processing through tactile play.
○ Physical Therapy: Building gross motor skills, coordination, and balance through movement-based activities.
● Caregiver Participation: Caregivers are encouraged to join sessions, fostering bonding and reinforcing skills at home.
Playful Pathways is inclusive and welcomes children of all abilities. Classes will be held at West End Assembly of God in Tuckahoe, Virginia and Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bon Air, Virginia from June-August 2025.
