Summer Movie Guide

This summer, families can enjoy free or low-cost movies several times a week at various locations like movie theaters, parks, drive-ins, and libraries. With so many options to choose from, it's the perfect time to plan some movie-watching fun! This page will be updated regularly so check often!


Ashland Theatre


The Ashland Theatre will be showing 10 family movies for free throughout the summer.

The summer movie series, funded by the Rappahannock Electric Cooperative, runs from June 9 to August 11, with show times on Mondays at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Ticket registration opens at 5 p.m. the night before each showing on the Ashland Theatre website.

Atlee Library: Monday Matinee


Atlee Library will be showing family-friendly movies for free throughout the summer on Mondays @ 1:00pm.

City Stadium Movie Nights @ Richmond Kickers


Tickets: $10 GA | $6 for CityStadium+ Members (all-in pricing. no additional taxes or fees)

Goochland Drive-In Theatre


Schedules are typically announced 4 to 7 days in advance with tickets going on sale Monday evenings at 7 pm.

All tickets must be purchased in advance on the website. Tickets prices are charged per car (7 people max)

Tickets are non-refundable & non-transferable to another show or date but may be given to a friend if you cannot attend.

Movies in the Outfield @ The Diamond


courtesy of the Flying Squirrels and Woodfin, Movies in the Outfield offers people the chance to catch a movie at the ballpark from May through October.

  • Wicked — Aug. 8 at 7:30 p.m.
  • Field of Dreams — Sept. 5 at 7:30 p.m.
  • Hocus Pocus — Oct. 24 at 7 p.m.

Seating for the movies will be on the field as well as the first-base lower bowl of the stadium, with the organizers asking people to only bring pillows and blankets, no lawn chairs.

Tickets are $10 each, but children aged 3 or younger get in for free. Click here for more information, and to purchase tickets.
