Started thru the inspiration of Olivier Faye of Senegal, nurtured by Djbril Niang of Senegal, Mahamadou Tandia of Mauritania, Dr. Nana Derby of Ghana, Alfred Powell of U.S. via Sierra Leone/Liberia, & a dedicate Executive Board; AfroFest has grown to be a highly anticipated feature of Richmond’s Festival of the Arts and the Regions & Arts Tourist Attractions; drawing thousands to its vibrant celebration.
