We all know the magic of driving through Richmond’s neighborhoods to see those jaw-dropping holiday light displays: the ones where every inch of the house is covered in twinkle lights, inflatable Santas wave from the yard, and glowing reindeer stand proudly on the lawn. Now imagine trading your car ride for sneakers and actually walking through that wonderland.
That’s the joy of the CarMax Tacky Light Run!
This festive 6k run/walk through Walton Park isn’t just about exercise: it’s about stepping into a living holiday postcard. Dozens of homes deck themselves out in dazzling decorations, creating a sparkling backdrop for families, friends, and neighbors to celebrate together.
It’s a tradition that brings RVA together for an evening filled with laughter, music, and holiday cheer. Kids giggle as they spot their favorite characters lit up in yards, parents snap photos under glowing arches, and runners of all ages soak in the magic of the season.
The Tacky Light Run is for everyone: the walkers, joggers, Santa-lovers, and even elves-at-heart.
The event supports Sports Backers Youth Programs, which provide athletic shoes, transportation, leadership development, and scholarships for Richmond-area kids. By participating, you’re helping build a healthier, more active future for our community.
