Henrico County’s 2026 Spring Program Guide!

Registration for residents begins February 17th and February 20th for non-residents

After a long winter, Henrico County is welcoming spring with open arms! Henrico County's Recreation and Parks Spring program guide is here and it’s packed with free and affordable activities for youth ages 3–18, plus events for the whole family to enjoy together.

Set your alarms! Registration for spring programs begins at 7:00 a.m. on the following dates:


Spring Programs

Henrico County Recreation & Parks will be offering the following spring programs for youth.

Early Childhood (Ages 3–6)


  • Tiny Dancers (Ages 3–4): A fun movement class introducing basic ballet skills through games.
  • Story Dancers (Ages 3–6): Dancers read a storybook and then bring it to life through ballet and jazz concepts.
  • Kids’ Gym (Ages 3–6): A safe space for children and parents to play together with obstacle courses and parachutes.


Creative Arts & Music (Ages 6–16)


  • Magician Apprentice Class (Ages 7–12): Learn the basics of magic and leave ready to perform your own mini-show.
  • Studio at The Springs: Pottery Coil Bowl (Ages 10–16): Transform clay coils into a unique bowl in this two-part class.
  • Introduction to Guitar 1 & 2 (Ages 6–12): Learn foundational playing habits and techniques. Guitar 1 is a prerequisite for Guitar 2.
  • Ballet Groove (Ages 5–7): A high-energy blend of ballet, jazz, and creative movement.


Cooking, Nature & History (Ages 6–17)


  • Spring into a Slice of Pizza (Ages 6–12): A hands-on cooking class where kids create their own pizza from dough to toppings.
  • Indoor Archery (Ages 10–17): Learn safety and technique using the NASP or USA Archery curriculum.
  • History Investigators (Ages 6–12): Practice detective skills by following clues to find hidden boxes at historic sites.

Community Events for All Ages

Henrico is hosting a variety of free events this spring that are perfect for families! No registration is required for these unless noted.

Featured Festivals & Outdoor Fun


  • Earth Day (April 11, 12–3 p.m.): Enjoy a fashion show, vendor fair, and recreational activities at Deep Run Park.
  • Kite Day (April 12, 12–3 p.m.): Decorate and fly your own kite with demos from the Richmond Air Force Kite Club at Dorey Park.
  • Arbor Day Celebration (April 25, 11 a.m.–2 p.m.): Plant sale, museum tours, and food trucks at Virginia Randolph Museum.
  • Farm Field Day (May 16, 11 a.m.–2 p.m.): Celebrate agricultural history with trades, crafts, and food trucks at Meadow Farm.
  • Sandston Memorial Day Parade (May 25, 1–4 p.m.): Watch the parade on Williamsburg Road followed by a block party at Sandston Recreation Area.


Special Theme Days


  • Up! Up! And Away! (April 19, 2–4 p.m.): Celebrate National Superhero Day by dressing up for heroic games and activities.
  • Galaxy Quest (May 2, 4–5:30 p.m.): A Star Wars-themed event with costume parades, rocket shooting, and origami (Ages 5–12).
  • Bounce House Bonanza (May 31, 11 a.m.–1 p.m.): Celebrate National Bounce House Day with slides and obstacle courses at Crump Park (Ages 2+).


Movies & Music in the Park


Enjoy free films under the stars on Friday evenings at various parks (April 3, April 17, May 1, and May 22)Don’t miss the Spring Concert with Prabir Trio on May 29 at Deep Run Park for some India-inspired rock.
