Climb aboard and buckle up! It’s time for the 33rd annual Field Day of the Past, set for Sept. 19, 20, and 21. This year’s event promises excitement with its new venue at historic Mount Airy Farm, offering sweeping hills and long vistas. The event will feature historic and agricultural displays, an expanded Heritage Village, and new programs supporting the theme "Preserving the Past; Cultivating the Future."
Event Highlights:
• Heritage Village: Showcasing the lifestyles of ancestors with wool spinning, knitting, chair caning, and
exhibits and presentations on Native American lifestyles
• Historical Presentation: Featuring a civil war camp, a colonial bowl maker, rope making, Wild West
Medicine Show, 1849 pioneer camp, Shaker broom making and demonstrations of antique equipment, World
War II history with the Seabees and the 29th Bomb Group – US Army Air Force and the “History of
Handspinning” by the Louisa County Historical Assoc.
• Children’s Activities: Including face painting, corn shelling, and a mechanical bull rides for kids.
• Tractor Pulls: Lawn and garden tractor pulls for all ages, on Saturday and Sunday, as well as a Horse and
Mule pull at 5 p.m. on Saturday
• Auctions: Featuring wooden creations made by Woody Hedgpath on site at 1 p.m. on Saturday and 4:15 p.m.
on Sunday
• Cruise-In: Hosted by the McKenny Cruisers on Friday and Saturday.
• Dreamland Amusements: Carnival rides, games and food
• Virginia High School Rodeo: Saturday and Sunday

• Music – Mountain Highway Bluegrass band plays every hour on the hour Saturday and Sunday, music on the
Field Day sound stage, Shooters Band headlining on Saturday night at 6:30 p.m.
