Local Gem You Must Try! Shore Dog Cafe

Plus a Special For You!

By Carissa Garabedian December 16, 2016
You might be surprised to find that we have a local spot that offers breakfast, lunch, ice cream, brunch and now dinner, but, we do.
The ShoreDog Cafe, locally owned by Gibbs and Sharon Moody, is a casual cafe that may have you thinking you are away at the beach. The decor is tranquil, the staff is super engaging and friendly and the menu covers all ages and dietary needs. The ambience is the perfect blend of stylish elegance and comfortable informality.
The name ShoreDog, comes from the owners former Boykin spaniel. ShoreDog Cafe serves the local favorite, Lamplighter Roasting Company coffee and delicious ice cream created by the Montgomery and Bowers families of Homestead Creamery.
ShoreDog focuses on local, organic, and good for the earth. Located in Tuckahoe Shopping Center, they are easily accessible and can be used for catering as well.  It is a great neighborhood meeting place, a spot to meet a client, or have a dinner date with your loved one, which is just what I did. My husband and I had dinner here last week, on a weeknight, which in and of itself was a great treat!

Our food was delicious and each course brought new and exciting flavors for us to enjoy.
Our appetizers started with shaved NY strip crostini , which was so tasty. The bread was fresh and crisp, the steak was cooked perfectly and the cheese did not overpower the rest of the flavors. We then shared the flatbread, topped with Smithfield ham, spinach and chèvre, which  also was delicious.
It was nice to sample a few appetizers, and there were others I cannot wait to try .For our entree, I had a stuffed ravioli in a light cream sauce. The size portion was perfect it was accompanied by sautéed spinach, a perfect pairing of flavors. Mark had the NY Strip with potatoes and spinach. It was cooked to his liking, a large size portion and like mine, presented with elegance.
We could not go without dessert, which was perfectly sized to share but I did not want to. The caramel stuffed brownie witha side of vanilla ice cream was mouth watering! Crunchy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside.
The coffee creation, called “affogotto”, is a dream come true. A cup of espresso, with your choice flavor of ice cream. I had apple pie ice cream and my husband had pumpkin. It was incredible!
ShoreDog now serves wine and beer for the adults. They also they have special events including ones for our kids.  They also show on the website they will be highlighting a dog of the month.
Overall,  I loved the comfort and ease of ShoreDog. ShoreDog encourages people to settle in for conversation, company, or even a little quiet work. There are large and small tables, plus an area in the back and front for couch and cozy chair seating. I love the option to have a locally owned, get to know you, neighborhood spot.

ShoreDog is sharing a special with you in hopes you will try it to.
