Patient First is proud to call Richmond home and we are thrilled to be joining the local Macaroni Kid family. Our goal is to provide some useful and fun information to help you and your family stay healthy. We would like to begin by letting you know a little more about us.
Since our first medical center opened in Chesterfield County in 1981, our vision has remained the same: making access to friendly, quality medical care as convenient and cost-effective as possible.
Patient First is an independent medical practice and has nine medical centers throughout Greater Richmond: in Midlothian, West End (Parham), Genito, Glen Allen (Woodman), Carytown, Short Pump, Mechanicsville, Chester and Colonial Heights. Every Patient First center is ofrom including weekends and all holidays. There is always a physician on-site, and you never need an appointment – just walk in!
Patient First physicians and physician assistants provide urgent care for all stages of life. In fact, Patient First routinely treats the conditions that make up almost 70% of emergency room visits at about a third of the cost. We know continuity of care is important to you—it is important to us, too. So, if you wish us to do so, we will send a copy of your visit record to your primary care doctor or pediatrician. This allows seamless coordination of care between Patient First and the physicians you regularly visit. And for those who do not have a primary care provider, we provide that service for ages 8 and up.
In most cases, your care can be handled in a single visit. Does your little one have a sore throat? Our on-site lab provides rapid strep test results. Are you worried that your child’s arm may be broken? On-site x-ray allows our physicians to make that determination. Do you have a sinus infection and do not feel up to a trip to the pharmacy with a toddler in tow? Your Patient First physician can dispense prescriptions on-site. All of these features help save you time so you can return home and quickly begin feeling better.
Other services include school and sports physicals, vaccinations, immunizations, occupational health, and much more. We have on-site EKGs, nebulizer treatments for asthma, and capability to repair and suture lacerations. Additionally, Patient First accepts all major health insurance plans and files claims for you.
For your convenience, patients who wish to see a particular physician or provider can call ahead or visit the online schedule on Patient First’s website to explore the dates and times when a particular provider is seeing patients.
