Tell us a little about yourself, age, school, siblings etc. Hi! My name is Samantha Easter and I am 13 years old. I have two siblings, a younger brother and an older sister. We are all homeschooled and we all enjoy theater. My Mom and Dad are super supportive of my goals, but my biggest fan is my dog, Sebastian.
What role are you playing in Anne of Green Gables and what are you looking forward to in this role? I am so excited to to be playing Anne Shirley! I am having fun with this character because she is a very headstrong girl with a huge imagination!
How did you get started in acting, how old were you? I started acting when I was nine years old because my older sister was doing it and I wanted to follow her everywhere. Now, I am hooked!
How long have you been with CharacterWorks? I have been with CharacterWorks for the past four years. Anne of Green Gables is my 9th CWorks show.
What is your all time favorite role that you have played? It's definitely a tie between Bossy Head May in the CWorks show camp production of Junie B. Jones Jr. and Trish in Akeelah and the Bee with Virginia Repertory Theater.
What role would you love to play? Wow! I have so many, but the top two would be Penny in Hairspray and Ariel in The Little Mermaid!
Do you have a favorite play that you have seen or want to see? A few years ago our family saw Matilda on Broadway. I loved it so much! That was when I decided to set my sights on being an actress on Broadway one day. I was also totally blown away by CharacterWorks recent production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
What are your long-term goals? I really want to study musical theatre in college and hope to perform on Broadway!
How do you manage juggling school and your theatre interests? I am homeschooled, so I have some added flexibility. Tech week can be tough, but I usually rearrange a few things in my schedule and it all works out. Plus, math is much more tolerable with Broadway tunes playing in your headphones!
What do you like to do when you are not in school or acting? I am really enjoying learning how to tap dance and I love playing the guitar and the ukulele. I serve in the children’s ministry at my church and soon, I will be auditioning for the youth worship band!
Do you have a favorite movie, book, food? I have a major obsession with Oreos and Nutella! I like to eat them while watching my two favorite movies, Mr. Church & Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium. I am currently reading A Corner of the Universe.
Any suggestions or advice for the readers and their kids that you can share? Never give up, even if it seems like the easier choice. Always remember that God is for you, and that with Him you can handle anything.
