Now Upon A Time Listening Party

Storytellling Podcast At VMFA Created by Dads Redefining Princesses

November 8, 2019

Created by a few dads who were tired of reading stories to their daughters about princesses needing to be rescued by a prince, they set out to redefine what it means to be a princess–so young girls could have stronger, braver and more empowered role models. That’s when Now Upon A Time was born. And for the first time, kids–and their parents–can hear stories they’ve heard a million times but with storylines and characters that are relatable.

Once upon a time, princesses were fickle and flighty. Those days are over. Join us in the VMFA atrium from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. for the launch of Now Upon A Time, a new storytelling podcast that reimagines classic tales with modern, empowering messages. Kids and parents will hear live music, participate in hands-on activities and listen to the stories of two smart, brave and bold princesses (who don't need rescuing). We might also have a little special magic up our sleeves to share as well! This event is free and open to the public. Learn more about the podcast at
