VOWS Foundation: Inspiring Growth & Sparking Hope

Friend of Macaroni KID Richmond

By Macaroni KID Richmond & VOWS Foundation November 11, 2024

Beginning this week, we're starting a new segment at Macaroni KID Richmond called Friend of Macaroni KID Richmond. The recent article on the Friendship Circle of Virginia (read about them here) has sparked my interest in highlighting the incredible efforts of nonprofit organizations throughout Metro Richmond. This new segment will be an opportunity to shoutout these organizations and showcase the awesome services that they offer to youth and families in Richmond City, Hanover and Henrico Counties.

Last week, I had the pleasure of meeting Erin from the VOWS Foundation and was very inspired by their efforts in empowering our youth and Veterans. I'm honored to feature the VOWS Foundation as our Friend of Macaroni KID Richmond!

VOWS Foundation: Inspiring Growth & Sparking Hope

The VOWS Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering under-resourced Black and Brown families through educational support, mental health advocacy, and community engagement. Driven by values of valiant, optimism, willingness, and souls. VOWS offers programs that provide free resources to the Richmond community and create opportunities for youth to develop essential skills through community outreach and volunteering. Through initiatives like PrepWorks, Cares Closet, and Community Day, VOWS fosters a supportive network where individuals can grow, connect, and thrive. Our vision is to build a brighter future by nurturing the potential within every child, family, and community we serve.

VOWS Impact Initiatives

Cares Closet - program a program that provides essential items and resources to families in need, offering clothing, toiletries, school supplies, and more—all free of charge. By addressing immediate needs, Cares Closet helps families access basic necessities, allowing them to focus on building brighter futures.

PrepWorks - a program that was made to inspire a love for learning and respect for education by strengthening foundational math and reading skills. Our year-round program for ages 5-18 offers a safe space to develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and focus through group play. PrepWorks supports learning at an individual pace, reducing anxiety and fostering a stress-free environment for growth and reflection. Register your child today.

Community Day - a program that unites volunteers to pack essentials, clean streets, and promote wellness. Featuring a garage filled with Amazon items, community members can "shop" for free, empowering Black and Brown families with needed resources. Join us to make a difference!
