Snow Day Activities

Ideas for families to enjoy indoors

January 5, 2025

Now that you're frozen toes off and have built the ultimate snowman, it's time to thaw out!

No matter if you're still buzzing from your epic snowball fight or just want to escape the cold, we've got the perfect lineup of snow day activities.

The possibilities are endless. From cozy movie marathons to dancing in your living room. Take off your snow boots, grab a warm drink, and let's have some indoor family fun!

1. Watch some family favorites or stream a new movie.
2. Build an indoor fort with some blankets, pillows, and sleeping bags.
3. Anything warm and yummy, like cookies, cupcakes, or muffins! Pair it with hot chocolate or apple cider and you'll have a delish snack combo!
4. Put on some music and have a dance party.
5. Put on a fashion show with any clothes, shoes, and hats you have.
6. Make crafts using what you have in the house. Don't have supplies? Make homemade playdough, homemade bubbles, and/or homemade paint.
7. Have a game day! Play a classic board game or cards games— like Uno, Go Fish, Crazy 8's or War. Play games like Simon Says or freeze dance. Perhaps, create a new game!
8. Let the kids act out a play using their imaginations.
9. Share old photos or videos of your kids at younger ages with them.
10. FaceTime with a friend or relative. No device for that? Use a landline phone and call!
11. Make lunch and have a picnic indoors. Take advantage of the fort you built to hide and eat.
12. Have a photo shoot, take lots of pics, and use household props to add some fun.
13. Read together. Grab a book, and everyone who is old enough can take turns reading it.
14. Exercise together. Jumping jacks, sit-ups, planks, whatever you can think of, and work up a sweat!
