Recap & Freebie

March 31, 2025

If you missed the Get Organized RVA webinar on organizing kids' clutter, don't worry! We've got you covered.

Co-owners Jamie Gibberman and Kristin Gorin, who have backgrounds in psychology and nutrition, opened Get Organized RVA in 2021. They shared how home organization can improve mental health, especially when dealing with children's clutter and the overwhelming amount of possessions in American households.

Jamie and Kristin offered practical advice, such as decluttering before organizing, starting small to avoid feeling overwhelmed, and asking the right questions when deciding what to keep. They also addressed the guilt that often comes with discarding gifts or expensive items and provided tips on handling sentimental objects like children's artwork and school papers.

The webinar covered how to organize children's spaces and family areas, emphasizing the importance of sorting items before storing them, measuring spaces before buying containers, and maintaining organization through labeling and routines. They highlighted the many benefits of being organized, including physical, mental, emotional, and financial impacts, and offered tips for organizing various spaces like closets, craft drawers, pantries, and playrooms. Jamie and Kristin wrapped up with tips for spring cleaning, including how to handle seasonal items and evaluate stored belongings.
